I create artwork to show the world around me, as well as the world within me. As an individual or as a part of a larger structure there is a constant feel of attack coming from outside my body, as well as within. I feel this is highly evident when my work is viewed as a whole. Individually, the pieces speak to various aspects of this attack. In order to convey my thoughts on this subject, I often work in many different mediums, utilizing the materials that I feel best express my conceptual ideas. By noting the physical clues from the pieces a more thorough understanding can be attained.

The common thread that connects my work is influences and the body. Internally the influences can include the mental state, as well as the physicality of the body itself and how it reacts to various stimuli; which can lead to medical complications. This theme came about in my work early on, as memories that I had suppressed from an earlier time and have transcended into the present. Some more recent physical obstacles within me include various sexual related disorders; this unquestionably has influenced the sexuality oozing from my work. Externally the influences can include; culture, loved ones, consumerism, and the media. These external factors bombard the mind and can manipulate; self esteem, the body, needs and wants. This influence came about from feeling overwhelmed by all the external chaos that you face everyday. From the ads you see in the subway, to the commercials you watch on TV, from the subconscious to the conscious inquiries and advice from loved ones, to the ideals forced into your brain from culture. This leads me to feel attacked from outside of my body as well as within.

In order to show the different ideas I often work in many different mediums, utilizing materials that I feel best express my conceptual ideas. It is important for me to leave room for accidents which may lead to an important material discovery. I have worked with refined materials such as cast bronze, to more experimental materials such as expando-foam. Aside from the need to work with my hands, I create sculpture to express myself, and make a voice for individuals who can relate to my work.

The style that I have created to show my work aside from being integral to the piece in helping the viewer distinguish what the subject is about, it is also meant to catch the eye of the audience. The end product that I want to achieve is; to lure the viewer towards the piece and having them observe it longer, they in turn will hopefully being able to get more out of the artwork, if they are able to recall it after they have left the premises and apply it to their own life.
